Whether you’re into basketball, soccer, football, hockey, or winter sports, you’ll find plenty of ways to cheer on a team or catch a game in the heart of Utah’s capital.

NBA Basketball – Utah Jazz

Basketball is one of the city’s biggest passions, and the Utah Jazz are at the center of it all. Playing at the Delta Center downtown, the Jazz bring high-energy NBA action to SLC every season. The arena also hosts concerts and events, making it a go-to destination for entertainment. Game days draw crowds to nearby restaurants and sports bars like Bout Time Pub & Grub and The Break for pre- and post-game fun.

MLS Soccer – Real Salt Lake

Soccer fans rally behind Real Salt Lake, Utah’s Major League Soccer team. Based at America First Field in nearby Sandy, RSL matches are known for their electric atmosphere, dedicated supporters’ section, and family-friendly environment. Many locals make a night of it, heading to Sandy early for dinner before cheering the team on.

College Football – University of Utah Utes

College sports are a huge part of Salt Lake City life, with the University of Utah Utes leading the charge. The Rice-Eccles Stadium fills with a sea of red during football season, especially for big Pac-12 matchups and rivalry games. Tailgating is a tradition here, and the excitement on game day is unmatched.

Minor League Hockey – Utah Grizzlies

Hockey lovers can catch the Utah Grizzlies at Maverik Center in West Valley City. This ECHL team offers affordable tickets and a lively atmosphere, making it a great option for families and casual fans alike. Winter nights at the rink are a local favorite.

Winter Sports – Olympic Legacy

Salt Lake City’s Olympic legacy still shines bright from hosting the 2002 Winter Games. Skiing and snowboarding dominate the winter months, with nearby resorts like Snowbird, Alta, and Park City Mountain drawing world-class athletes and recreational skiers. The Utah Olympic Oval and Utah Olympic Park offer year-round activities, from speed skating to bobsledding.

Where to Watch a Game in SLC

If you can’t make it to the stadium, SLC has plenty of spots to catch the action. The Green Pig Pub is a downtown favorite for big-screen viewing, while Legends Pub & Grill offers an extensive beer list and hearty game-day meals. For a local twist, Proper Brewing Co. pairs craft beers with the big game in a laid-back setting.

From professional basketball and soccer to college football and Olympic-level winter sports, Salt Lake City has something for every fan. Whether you’re in the stands, at a sports bar, or streaming from home, the city’s love for the game makes every season exciting.
